  • Gaasbeeek Castle

Located 30 minutes from Brussels, this castle dating from the 13th century for its foundations is a remarkable summary of the history of Brussels.

Originally planned to protect Brussels and the Duchy of Brabant, it was, in turn, the property of the Horne family, the Count of Egmond, and then the Arconati Visconti family Until the beginning of the 20th century, a place of cultivation, of artistic encounters and people of letters, this castle and its park, at the gates of Brussels, is an architectural but also botanical marvel.

Its garden museum offers a collection of rare fruits and vegetables, with a particular culture, a “French” garden, walled in an earlier Baroque style, and a breathtakingly beautiful park where the largest beech trees in Belgium grow.

The different period buildings offer a rich and varied complex demonstrating the importance of this place.
