On 1 and 3 July 2026, the Grand-Place in Brussels hosts the Ommegang, one of Europe's greatest historical processions. Located just minutes away, Le Louise Hotel Brussels is the ideal base to enjoy the event.
The Ommegang re-enacts the Joyous Entry of Emperor Charles V into Brussels in 1549. Nearly 1,400 performers in period costumes parade across the Grand-Place: nobles on horseback, crossbowmen, flag-bearers, giants, jugglers and fire-breathers. The whole spectacle is accompanied by a sound-and-light show and pyrotechnics.
The procession dates back to the 14th century and has been listed as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage since 2019. Two performances are scheduled: Wednesday 1 July and Friday 3 July, at 8:45 pm.
From 1 to 4 July, the Sablon district transforms into a Renaissance village: artisan market, jousting tournaments, knight battles and entertainment for all. These festivities are part of the Brussels Renaissance Festival (17 May - 4 July 2026).
Located on Avenue de la Toison d'Or, in the heart of the Louise district, the hotel is just minutes from the Grand-Place by metro or car. The Sablon, starting point of the procession and hub of the festivities, is approximately 10 minutes away on foot.
Before the show, the Maison Louise restaurant offers a Mediterranean-inspired menu, indoors or on the terrace. On your return, enjoy the comfort of the hotel's 159 rooms and 10 suites.
