  • Flower Carpet 2026: a floral weekend in the heart of Brussels

From 13 to 16 August 2026, the Grand-Place in Brussels hosts the 24th edition of the Flower Carpet. An ephemeral spectacle spanning 1,680 m² made of hundreds of thousands of flowers, to discover over a weekend from Le Louise Hotel Brussels.

The Flower Carpet: an ephemeral masterpiece

Every two years, on the weekend of 15 August, the Grand-Place transforms into a vast display of colour. A carpet measuring 70 m long by 24 m wide is assembled by hand by over 100 volunteers in less than eight hours. The result: a spectacular floral fresco, on display for just four days.

The event has been held since 1971 and has been listed as Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Brussels Region since 2020. Every evening, a sound-and-light show accompanies the carpet and illuminates the Gothic façades of the Grand-Place.

2026 edition: Japan in the spotlight

For this 24th edition, Japan takes centre stage on the Grand-Place. Following a first collaboration in 2016, the Land of the Rising Sun returns with a brand-new artistic design.

A major first this year: only dahlias will make up the carpet, in partnership with the Bloemencorso Loenhout association. Thousands of dahlias in a wide range of colours will replace the traditional begonias, giving the carpet all the brilliance it deserves.

    What to see

Access to the Grand-Place is free to admire the carpet from ground level. For a panoramic view, a ticket gives access to the Town Hall balcony, offering a wide-angle view of the artwork.

At nightfall, the square lights up for a spectacular sound-and-light show, with a musical score composed specially for each edition. A moment not to be missed.

Le Louise Hotel: your hotel for the 15 August weekend

Drop your bags on Avenue de la Toison d'Or, in the heart of the Louise district, and reach the Grand-Place in around twenty minutes by public transport. The ideal location to enjoy the carpet by day, come back for the sound-and-light show in the evening, and stroll home to the quiet of the neighbourhood.

To extend the experience, the Maison Louise restaurant invites you for a Mediterranean break, indoors or on the terrace, before returning to the comfort of the hotel's 159 rooms and 10 suites.
